VALIDATION FOR EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME

It is another way of getting a degree whereby persons who have had paid, unpaid, or voluntary experience can apply for full or partial credit for a degree or a qualification.

Rules for this application become law in 2002.

The applicant must prove that his/her knowledge, skills and aptitudes justify the award of the qualification.

Should the applicant require assistance in compiling his/her folder, it can be given without affecting the panel's decision .

The applicant can request leave and funding through the official equal opportunity organization (OPCQ, FONGECIF) to which he/she contributes as well his/her employer. Job seekers are eligible for some assistance through the ASSEDIC.

The experience based degree is awarded to the applicant by a special panel which studies the application and interviews the applicant .

Application form for validation of experience :

Application forms can be requested from the institution awarding the degree along with all the relevant information for the application process .

Filling in the application for Validation of Experience :

Assistance can be requested for filing out applications (e.g. for the Agricultural Technical Baccalaureate) from the Regional Office for Training and Development (SRFD). The Regional Agriculture and Forestry Directorate will have a list of organizations equipped to assist in this .

There are two possibilities :

• The degree is awarded to the applicant.
• The panel decides that the “know-how, aptitude and skills” need to be improved for the degree to be awarded. The applicant has five years to re-apply to a second panel (an applicant can only appear once in front of the panel).

To apply for Validation of Experience to be awarded an engineering degree in Advanced Agricultural Education, fees are set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries :

• 900 EUR to apply ,
• 600 EUR for assistance in applying (optional).
